Grant Details

  • The second round of BTOP and BIP funding has been announced. Applications will be accepted between February 16 and March 15, 2010. There are separate applications for the NTIA BTOP and the RUS BIP this round. The Notice of Funds Availability for each can be found at www.broadbandusa.gov/info_lib.htm.

  • The BTOP program rules have changed significantly in the second round. The focus is on “middle mile” projects that connect key community institutions. If you’d like assistance with your application, please contact us!

  • Summaries of accepted applications for the first round of the NTIA/RUS stimulus program have been posted online. At the NTIA Broadband USA site, you can search for specifics using five criteria or view all applications (more than 2,000). Two rounds of awards have been announced so far, with additional awards to be announced on a rolling basis into mid-February.

ARRA American Recovery & Reinvestment Act
BTOP Broadband Technology Opportunities Program. New funding via the ARRA stimulus package, which will be administered by the NTIA.
E2T2 (also known as EETT) Enhancing Education through Technology. An ongoing grant program through the US Department of Education Title II, Part D of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). More information here.
NTIA National Telecommunications and Information Administration. An agency of the US Department of Commerce, offering a Broadband Technology Opportunities Program to help eligible entities expand broadband services to underserved areas and to improve public safety agencies' access to broadband. RUS Rural Utilities Service. A division of the US Department of Agriculture. RUS has sponsored a loan and competitive grants to generate broadband networks and services in rural areas. The federal ARRA (stimulus package) has added $2.4 billion to be distributed by RUS. More information here.
