The Metropolitan Council has jurisdiction in the 7-county Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area as the provider of transit, waste-water, economic development, and growth planning services for the region. With a 17 member board and a large staff, the Council had extensive audiovisual requirements when they decided to relocate their headquarters facility.
E&A responded to the Council's RFP for an audiovisual consultant and was selected by the Metropolitan Council through a competitive selection process based on understanding of the project requirements, demonstrated experience, and fees weighted against experience and project plan.
E&A met with a wide range of staff and user groups to determine the needed functions and capabilities. The resulting design carries consistency of operation for users throughout the various types and sizes of meeting rooms, while providing appropriately-sized and –placed displays and sound systems in each of the rooms. All systems, including the control room equipment, are wheelchair-accessible. The council chambers offers excellent sightlines for all meeting participants – council members as well as presenters and the audience.
A well-appointed control room serves the Council Chamber as well as two conference rooms, providing extensive recording and broadcast capabilities for both internal and external distribution. The control room operator can easily keep an eye on all of the meetings simultaneously and provide proactive remote assistance to meeting participants.
