Project Profile: Carpentersville, IL Community Unit School District 300 Expansion & Data Center
Starting in 2006, Elert & Associates was retained by CUSD 300 for several projects to assist the district in the growth and expansion of technology systems.
The first project was an immediate review and development of a report and recommendations for the main data center at an existing high school.
As part of a new construction project including two elementary schools opening in 2007 and a high school opening in 2008, E&A assisted the district with the design of infrastructure cabling, multimedia (A/V), video surveillance, voice systems, and network systems. E&A created bidding documents and provided contract administration services for those systems for each of the three schools.
In 2008, E&A was retained to provide voice/data infrastructure cabling, AV/multimedia, and voice/data system upgrades to all 23 existing district buildings. Approximately 15 of the buildings were included in Phase I (2008), with the remaining schools being upgraded in 2009. A number of the buildings included construction work where we coordinated technology efforts with the construction project schedule so that all systems would be operational and tested prior to the building’s opening.
Another recent project included updating and improving video surveillance systems at two existing high schools in the district. The design incorporated analog and IP-based video surveillance systems with RAID 5 level redundancy. The system design is consistent throughout the district, allowing district personnel to view live and/or recorded video at a central location via the district’s WAN.
